Can someone confirm if the men and women are allowed to be in the audience together or is there a partition wall separating the two? It is irrelevant to the beauty of the music or the experience. When I was in Iran for my wedding celebration, during our Wedding Reception (and the ceremony) the men and women were separated by a wooden partition.

@ReginaPellegrino of course they sit together! in some wedding ceremonies it might be that they separate the people, but it is more common on traditional or religious families and probably mostly on countrysides or smaller cities. It seems like the fundamentalism thoughts are raising under the skin of society as a result of the fundamentalist government which is owning the media and everything else in country,and spreading the religious prejudice thoughts...

@tartanmusician sadly that is right. but it is until a degree because of not having good instruments. since the importing of instruments is so difficult in Iran, and mostly orchestras are in charge of providing equal instruments to the players, and apparently in the government of Mr.Ahmadinejad there's no point of having music, so it's getting worse and worse. many of the musicians are using instruments from 40 years ago and you can imagine we don't have a really professional technician too!

I am surprised that they have allowed to have an orchestra!! do the other citys have them too? like Uromia , Tabriz, etc?

@amaxzani1311 There is an orchestra in Tabriz, and some occasional one in Isfahan too.I don't know about the quality of Tabriz Orchestra, but I'm almost sure that the government is not supporting them. My news are from 2 years ago I have no idea about now!

All differences and political stresses aside, this performance is incredible. I am sometimes amazed by how music is such a common language to everyone. If people dedicated more time developing the artistic, sportive and intellectual competition rather than seek to find cultural or religious superiority in strength of arms and warfare, we would have so much to learn from each other.

I know I'd be honored to sit in an Irani concert hall to share this passion for good music.

Dont be too hard on the Iranians. Historicaly they are a very intellectual people and have much the same wants as any civilised nation. Unfortunately they are under the yoke of a backward and oppressive stone-age regime. Dont belittle or hate them all. (And I consider myself right-wing) Good effort Tehran Symphony Orchestra . I have to say, I'm impressed that Tehran even has an orchestra....and doubly impressed that they are playing as well as they are! Can I come conduct someday??

I dont care what they say about Iran....She has more culture than America could ever hope to posess.,,,And she's a proud country, not a terrosist haven!
