BBC Maestro Jane Asher "Elgar Cello Concerto"

Jane Asher conducts Elgar's Cello Concerto.
The three remaining student conductors must conduct a concerto with world renowned soloists - violonist Tasmin Little, cellist Natalie Clein and pianist Nikolai Demidenko - as well as a piece of orchestral music of their own choosing. The judges - Sir Roger Norrington, Dominic Seldis, Zoe Martlew and guest judge international violin virtuso Maxim Vengerov - rate their performances before the BBC Concert Orchestra votes one student out. The remaining two contestants both must conduct the 1st movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

I think she did great.

The fact that she won young musician of the year about a million years ago doesn't mean she is still good today, all the players i know say that her cello playing has never got any better and she is only booked because she generates ticket sales.

Natalie Clein's Bach is amongst the most beautiful I have heard, but her Elgar makes me feel sick - that hideous wide vibrato, so much that isn't in the score too.

@MasterIsh91 I agree, Natalie Clein is so overrated, I saw her play Elgar in Glasgow in May and it was sooooo painstakingly boring! My favourite performances of it I've seen have been Steven Isserlis and Jian Wang, both play it incredibly, with a real original feel to it in each performance!
