Ryan, Scott, and Eric defend their wild cow milking title at the Draper Days Rodeo.
Wild cow milking is exactly what it sounds like: you milk a wild cow. There are different formats to this event and it can be different at each rodeo. At the Draper Days Rodeo one person from the three person team runs to the chute where there is a cow with a rope tied to a halter. Once the cow is out of the chute the other members of the team can then run and assist in wrangling the animal. The first team to bring their can to the judge with the bottom covered in milk wins the pot ($180.00).
Note: The rules were clearly explained two times; once before we entered the arena and again on the pa system while we were waiting to start. The judge was very clear that you had to have enough milk in your can to cover the bottom and he wouldn't hesitate to turn anyone away if they didn't have enough milk. As you can see not everyone listened.
Many thanks to our friend Scott Hales for filming this event and editing it together. Check out the video he did for us last year: http://youtu.be/r570OJVodGM
Also, thanks to all those who came to watch us. I know a lot of you were secretly hoping to see us get drug through the dirt but I hope us pulling out a win was entertaining as well. Much thanks to Gold and Sons Trucking for letting Ryan off for the weekend so he could come out and participate.
