Yeah, many of the 1982 shows have ridiculous tempos (like those UK 1982 shows)! Another song that had the speed treatment was I'm Still Standing (it was flying by 1985)!

@GregsynthWizard They way I see it - 1982, way too fast 1984 - still a little too fast (more like 1982 part 2) 1985 - 86 : good speed, average voice, but the cracks were starting to show 1988 - 90 : Good voice, terrible drugs!

@EltonJohnCollection Actually, it's the Reg Strikes Back tour....he didn't play any ''Sleeping With The Past'' material...

I'm almost positive that it was that reason. The drugs probably didn't help matters, but between 1982-1985, Elton's voice was tops. Around that time though, he started oversinging the SHIT out of songs (either singing higher than the studio version, or growling notes, or singing everything in full voice). Plus, it didn't help that Elton would have 7 shows in a row!
