    King Kong was an iconic monster in New York that made a mess of things. No one could touch him. In this movie, Denzel is the monster that makes a mess of things. He thinks that he's iconic in the eyes of his followers and that no one can touch him either. There's also the racially stereotyical parallels that can be made with a merciless black villian in this movie and a giant monstrous gorilla.
