Emerald Night Train (LEGO® Set 10194 - ©2009 - 1085 pc.) vs. Cargo Train Deluxe (Set 7898 from ©2006 - 856 pc.).

The speed of the Emerald (motorized with XXL-Power-Functions® motor (8882) and rechargable battery (8878) box is evidently less than the speed of the old system. The remote controlles work with different protocols. So each needs it's own controll unit.

7898 has track oval, motorization and remote controll unit included and costs 140 ... 160 EUR.
10194 needs a motorization set (receiver, lights, motor, battery box) and tracks as extras.
Motorized set makes approx. ~ 190 Eur.

  • Hey, just saw your video. Neat to be able to control two trains on the same track. Do you hear anything about extra carriages for the Emerald Night?

  • @bluecomet390

Definitely no extra carriages. Even worse the Emerald itself is discontinued and sold out. Even no chance to get further waggons by buying the whole set.

Rumors however tell, that there will be a new set in style of Emerald to come. I have no reliable infos though. Press thumbs.

Yeah - the Emerald Night Train is the best!

Too bad it is sold out since a few weeks.....(Dec.2011)

  • how many legos do you have

  • @guncrazy117

Yeah -this is more than in average households... ;-)

My part count tells, that this is more than 500.000 bricks.

Mostly I just don't find the time to build with this. :-(
