There are some mailing lists that are useful - "PAMG" and "ScotAvnet" (google them). There is a great Facebook group "Scottish Aviation Photographers" too. Also google for the group "reach hunters" as that has military movements.

I stay midway between PIK, GLA and EDI so quite lucky but still a fair travel to any of them.
