That actual clip wasn't planned, but apparantly it happened in rehearsals so they decided to go with it! Sensible having a safety mat!!

In an interview David Jason said that incident happened for real in rehearsals so they decided to keep it in. Safety mat was a good idea though!

urban myth my friend. they had a mattress waiting and it took quite a few shots to get it right, he kept flinching as he went down.

Elain steed thats rubbish. His fall was broken by a safety mat, you see him bounce slightly.
I went to school with John Sullivans daughter so I can check that for ya if you like!, but im pretty damn sure that theres a mat there mate!xx

hahaha so funny! And what's strange is that he wasn't really meant to fall over apparantly and when he did, they kept it in, haha! :)
