PART 1
Watch PART 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRtVVfENnPQ

In high school, we made a cannon that was powered by dry ice (Co2) that could fire projectiles with amazing force. I turned it into a documentary for a physics class, and with time it had become lost. I have recently discovered this lost footage for your enjoyment.

Do not try this at home.

  • are you guys canadians?

  • @laxvarga22 North Dakotans. From about as north as you can go in North Dakota.

  • I woulda held that thing like a bazooka

  • @JazzLover747 We tried that, shot straight out of our arms :)

  • do you think that thick pvc pipe would work just as well as the drive shaft

  • It works the same, but PVC is pretty dangerous to use. We used to have a PVC pipe but it kept exploding when we would fire the gun.

The problem with that is that PVC doesn't show up in x-rays, so surgeons have to perform "exploratory surgery".

    Use metal if you can.

  • CO2 does not melt. Dry ice doesn't melt. Its a thing called sublimination, when it goes straight to Gas from a solid.

  • im building a rocket that blows up when it hits the ground.

Same with me : My first PVC tube blew up in my hands, it turned into sharp shrapnel. I finally used PVC anyway : but reinforced it by sliding straight "coupling" tubes (they're tougher that the pipe itself), so I had 2 layers. I also reinforced the bottom by pouring concrete and adding screws through holes before the stuff had hardened (otherwise your canon might be more dangerous at the back than it is at the front).

  • Pack-a-Puch it

  • @aerofan897 hahaha! thats awesome!!!!! you shoulda taped THAT and put it on YouTube!! :D

  • Hey, check out what I've been doing with hho. The Hydrogun is a real spitfire.
