Awesome demo, very well explained.
So, from say, one metre high nettle, how much cordage would you end up with?

@Rebadog1 His own testosterone.

what's he chewing on?

@primitivebushskills I think nettles will work for a bow drill if the cordage is tightly formed and thick enough. I would make it 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick (3 to 6 mm). The abrasion resistance of natural fibres is low relative to synthetic fibres, so your cord/rope won't last very long, but you'll definitely be able to get a coal. Here in north central California, we have nettles in the hills. I haven't tried them yet. I may give it a go.

Couldnt get my head around how to keep adding pieces in but i got it now.

There are nettel jeans and they are stronger than just regular jeans, i do think then that it'll work on a bow drill

Thank you for a nice presentation of the process.

@primitivebushskills This is supposed to work even for Bow and Arrow string from what I've been told

its alot easer when he crushes it if you split it open so you have one flat pece and you bend it in halve pith side out untill the pith breaks
the fibers come away in a hole sheet so you can make them as thick as you want them
