UPDATE 1/3/2012
First video about the moped! Looking back I've learned so much, including the proper way to pronounce Puch, should sound like "Pook". Did not figure this out until I made a decent chunk of my videos, however.

If you get a hold of one of these bikes that's been sitting (or not sitting) read through the following and print out the service manual:

Original description:
This is an introduction to my big winter project, a 1978 Puch Maxi Moped. I bought the 'ped over the summer after it had sat for 20+ years, and a friend was able to get it running for me...and I foolishly ran it around town for about 20 miles not really knowing what I was doing. Now I'm going to make everything right by tearing down all the components and putting them back. It's a very simple bike and I look forward to learning a lot from it - stay tuned for updates and how to videos relating to the bike, subscribe if it suits your fancy -thanks!

  • Hi, travis, i'm from oporto, portugal. I've got a bike just like that, except it's from 1972/71 I don't know. although i ain't working on it.... yet, your videos have been very helpful, especilly the one that explains you how to clean the carburetor.

  • it's pook, like book.

  • In the UK we pronounce it "putch", not "pooch". I'm not sure whether it's universally correct to say that.

  • I have one of these mopeds. It was and is still my first engine/motor to work on. Right now I need to buy a condenser (helps create the spark) and I should be done. I need to rebuild the engine next year. The moped itself has been in our family it's whole life (33 years). Good luck and happy 'pedding, Mrpuch78

  • Nice dude! Umm the electrics on that bike, are definitely not supposed to be like that. I have a 73 maxi s and i can guarantee that they are not supposed to be like that.

  • "poook"

  • you got a titled maxi here in pa? i've gotten titles for bikes before, notarized bill of sale and they submit it. if your vin is clean, they will title it.

    its puk or pook

  • Hey man i just kind of fixed up my moms Puch Moped! (same one as you) You can message me with questions or anything mine runs great.

  • i want to touch your moms puch

  • DO NOT ride without an air filter on that carb, you will seize your engine and make more of a headache! =X other than that, have fun :) lol
