I signed your Change.org petition. I started out in hotel housekeeping. Domestic work is painful and requires lots of strength. Everyone should have rights to take breaks and lunches and receive fair wages!

@proservitor I think just like @mlyon01 mention this is not about "political grandstanding" it is about the fact that personal attendants lack the most basic labor protections. Personal Atendants are sensitive to the needs of their employers and so is this bill. We look forward to continuing this discussion in a way that moves us closer to a more equitable and perfect union between workers and employers.

This is a very heartwarming video, I just wish that it told the truth! There are two major problems with California AB889. 1) 98% of these "rights" already exist for domestics - making the bill about POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING, and 2) it asserts that personal attendants are domestic workers. They are NOT, they are healthcare workers. A patient's personal health and welfare knows no time-clock! If passed, this bill will devastate our senior population's healthcare options. What an arrogant mess.

Watch The Help the movie then come-out and support Domestic Workers Bill of Rights at the Women Leading Change: From The Shadows to Sacramento fundraiser on Sept. 1st at Tropico de Nopal Gallery in Los Angeles.

Good cause, and this has my support! But maybe consider some better music editing. It is a bit disjointed. :)

Terrific we all deserve respect and a living wage!

Clear and well explained video informing all about an issue so few take the time to consider. And domestic workers have a MOST CRUCIAL role in helping raise our children (or care for elderly or disabled) while we are able to go to our own work. How great the Domestic Bill of Rights passed in New York. Now, if only in California!!
Fantastic video, thanks for making the connection between Hollywood's new movie and the realities of domestic workers still today!

I'm co-convener of the San Francisco Gray Panthers, and in our small group there are three people getting direct care from domestic workers who support this bill because they know their caregivers' work is significant and their caregivers deserve respect, legal protections, and decent treatment that's not dependent on their employer's individual good will. Don't be fooled by the argument that caregivers aren't workers because they protect health. They used to say that about nurses too.
