  • any game using the video card and being hard on it makes this one overheat and of course the fan just can't supply enough cooled air ... it doesn't do that when I just roam the net ... is there a solution?? someone??

  • my macbook pro aluminium doesnt make any noise

  • better? how? did that chainsaw sound come with ur macbook or with the game?!?!hahahaha my rig never makes a sound like that even on full load...btw i got a evga gtx 280 that never overheats like that piece!!!oh yea go look at sum of the HIGH end laptops these days and you will c that they r 10X faster than this shitty mac

  • It's fan noise, poor construction/parts. If I press down on the Q or W keys, I can actually hear the fan blades hitting something and getting louder. It's not CPU related, other than when your CPU works harder your fans try to cool everything down so the fan problem (IE APPLE'S PROBLEM) becomes more apparent.

Awesome machines, minus the shitty fan epidemic.

  • I was just playing WoW right now, fan is still making noise...

  • In response to this month old message, the other night I left the A/C temp up a bit higher than usual on the house, and during a WoW instance the iMac revved up for the first time ever! Must be loosing a little heat dissapation with dust or something. Cool though!

  • i couldn't agree more

  • Bud, don't listen to these idiots. I play WoW on a mac, and it is way better than many HIGH end PC's. I do mean high end. The sound you are hearing is due to extra heat from the graphics card. It just requires general cooling for the whole laptop. download a cpu/temp monitor widget thing. It will tell u what is heating up. -later

  • Mine does this too. I gave a call to apple and they couldn't tell me anything. It used to only happen under CPU heavy conditions (like anthony said) but now it does it at startup. Thank god i have applecare.

  • the reason why it kicked in fast was because the proccesor needed to be cooled more mainly because you were playing a game.
