Santa Cruz Hemp AllStars I

Here's a bit of video from the first ever Santa Cruz Hemp AllStars gig, at Palookaville in Santa Cruz on 5/13/01. This was the weekend of the annual Hemp Expo, and with both STS9 and the Disco Biscuits having recently relocated to town, Palookaville's Poco Marshall pulled together this local jam supergroup for an unofficial Expo afterparty.

John Whooley (Estradasphere) - sax/vocals
Jason Concepcion (Netwerk:Electric) - guitar
Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits) - keys
David Murphy (STS9) - bass
Jeffree Lerner (STS9) - hand drums
Zach Velmer (STS9) - drums

The video (single camera) was shot by Stephen Reysen, Estradasphere's videographer/archivist. Audio recorded by Poco Marshall. Rescue/capture/sync/etc. by Marco Walsh.

This clip is from the end of the first set, and showcases an amazing vocals/drums exchange between Whooley/Velmer/Lerner.

idk...i tried really hard with this...i did like some of the percussion beats they had, and i love sts9. But the wookawookachicka crap just scared me. I can't imagine what I would have thought if i was there
