Sa voix était tout simplement sublime!

@ferzunkin I do not hear anything off pitch there. The position in the high is kept as soft as a massive voice like that can do and that gives them a certain "sound" but I do not detect a pitch problem.
I do not seek to comfort you... I am extatic in awsome respect of a monstre sacré...

I too love Tatiana, but messes about with the tempo too much in this piece - which should be a smooth, flowing waltz throughout. Also, she has the most georgeous mezzo voice yet choses to sing this in soprano key, which spoils the mellowness of it.

Simply superb! Tatiana Troyanos was one of the most underrated singers. Her range of roles and styles was incredible. She brings a pure emotional and musical intelligence to everything. One of the best ever!

I have never been a great fan of Janet Baker - I find her singing somewhat over rehearsed in its presentation. I like the simple freshness of this artist. She still has a sense of joy and simplicity in her singing. Baker is straight faced in the extreme I often wonder if she knew how to smile while singing.

Never thought I could say that but I think she's above la Crespin herself. And her french is so idiomatic and sensual...

I absolutely adore Janet B. but this is so gorgeous too and has so much of this particularly intricate personality of Tatiana T. that comparison is sacrilege for both these magnificent women.

Tatiana Troyanos is a wonderful singer and is always able to give character to what she interprets. Here unfortunately, she is too mannered with poor intonation in French words. She is not helped by the piano which is far to be as subtle as her singing. Sorry but it is really not the right style for Berlioz nuits d'été (see the amazing Janet Baker with unsurpassed musicality !)
Nice, but have a look at/listen to Janet Baker. She is completely hypnotic - and manages to be dramatic and lyrical at the same time. Also, I find the piano a very poor substitute for Berlioz' wonderful orchestration!

JB isn't a rose. She's rather a dahlia.
It was originally written for piano.
Orchestration means: "sing it loud, hypnotic and with poor nuances".

Well feeling is personal, isn't it? For a Kundry is a tour de force to bring such softness.

easyness in the high range, silvery, silky, strange and unique voice.

Easyness? I'm not sure. I feel "parmIII" and
"EEEtoilee" - not 100% in pitch. Noone can
comfort me :)
