In the United States, residential homes produce a significantly large portion of the waste generated annually. This is partially due to the homes appliances and construction, but even more so to its inhabitants. Residents today have gotten into the habit of taking long showers, running the A/C in winter, and leaving the TV on for the dog. Green Home Livings mission is to combine installation of new technology with education of an individuals impact.

If we were to only install new energy efficient products, like so many companies in todays world do, we would only be solving half of the problem. Thus, creating a larger more dynamic problem, this will ironically set us back in our attempt to reduce our ecological footprint. Given the new technology people assume that it is alright to run a half load of laundry even when they have clean clothes, because they have energy efficient appliances or abuse the thermostat because they have a better HVAC. Its not what you can do to better your house, but how you can better your life to best offset the original cost of the investment.

By combining these two areas you will see a much higher rate of return in a much shorter period. This is why at Green Home Living we are introducing an educational sector where we will be able to sit down with the customer, face to face. In these formal meetings we will inform them of various ways they can cut down on their own wasted energy output. These night classes if you may will give the customer tips that they can incorporate in their everyday lives, such as, turning lights off when you leave a room, keeping a constant eye on the thermostat, unplugging appliances that are not in use, carpooling, buying environmentally friendly products, and using water in a non wasteful way (wash dishes with a sink full of water and turn off water in shower while washing your body).

These are just a few of the many green living tips we will have to offer the customer so that they can learn how to live their everyday lives in a green way. Besides the personal satisfaction of helping the environment and lower utility bills the government offers numerous tax benefits for installation of energy efficient modifications and appliances.

The reason we chose to focus on the home for these modifications and lifestyle changes is, because an individual has a vested interest in their personal property and will be much more inclined to take action. Opposed to corporate office buildings, where a single employee does not worry about their consumption, because the bill does not rest on them. By giving homeowners this knowledge of how to lead this more sustainable lifestyle their practices will be passed down between generations ultimately creating a more sustainable society.

  • Great work! Love your video production!

  • Low carb lane is a very relevant project fleshed out as far as pay plans and specific interfaces for implementation of these ideas.

  • It cuts off at the end and you don't completely hear the last word, but I really like it.

  • Good ideas :) I like.
