A visit by the makers of the documentary The Cinerama Adventure to the storage warehouse of the former Cinerama corporation, now Pacific Theatres. The remaining Cinerama cameras and projectors are there, as well as the sound dubbers and many reels of film.

  • This all ended and didn't have a very long run. I wonder how long 3d will last now.

  • @butchscorner Cinerama had a huge run, lasting about 13 years. The first and last Cinerama films, "This is Cinerama" (1952) and "How the West Was Won" (1962) were box office blockbusters -- the #1 hits of the years they were released. Cinerama ended because of financial decisions made way back at the beginning, and the difficulty Hollywood had in producing the films. "2001 A Space Odyssey" (1968) was originally planned to film in 3-strip Cinerama according to Kubrick's contract with MGM.

  • wow! thx for posting this, really interesting.where are the cameras now?

  • Last I heard one camera was on display at the Cinerama Dome in LA, and the first Cinerama camera was on display at the Pictureville Cinema in Bradford, England.
