This all ended and didn't have a very long run. I wonder how long 3d will last now.

@butchscorner Cinerama had a huge run, lasting about 13 years. The first and last Cinerama films, "This is Cinerama" (1952) and "How the West Was Won" (1962) were box office blockbusters -- the #1 hits of the years they were released. Cinerama ended because of financial decisions made way back at the beginning, and the difficulty Hollywood had in producing the films. "2001 A Space Odyssey" (1968) was originally planned to film in 3-strip Cinerama according to Kubrick's contract with MGM.

Last I heard one camera was on display at the Cinerama Dome in LA, and the first Cinerama camera was on display at the Pictureville Cinema in Bradford, England.
