I'm 13 and I already know what I'm going to do when I'm 18... move to North Carolina, and save every animal in there. There not thrying to get them adopted, (like they should) they want to kill them. :'(

Respond to this video... Heartsticking when the animal is not tranquilized to an almost comatose state is ILLEGAL! When Jeff Bass was there, not one dog was tranquilized prior to heartstick. It took one dog almost 2 hours to die an agonizing death. He didn't give a damn whether they hit the heart or not. I believe it's still going on in the form of Lori Baxter!!!!! She, apparently doesn't take (drag) them to a 'room', no, it's done right there in the kennel!

@Canhinkley I'm not in NC, so like I said, I don't know about the heartstick. Our local animal control doesn't use that, and we recieve multiple calls each week from them begging us to make room for animals who just don't have enough time. We and other shelters take as many as we can, but we need more space. It costs money to house dogs and cats. we only have 15 kennels (including 5 isolation kennels) and a single room for cats with 8 isolation cages.

I work in a no kill shelter, and I know how people tend to blow things out of proportion with our own animal control. A lot of people were angry about the death of dogs and cats... but they're honestly trying to save the lives as best as they can. All of the staff keeps the dogs and cats as long as they can, often sending pleas to shelters like us and various rescue operations. I don't know about this heartstick thing, it doesn't sound like any self-respecting animal shelter would do.

Do they not have the sense or means to do it more humanely??

I agree with these comments! They dont deserve to die! they should be given a second chance even up to 1000 chances! but if they have to put them down it shouldnt be with gassing or heart sticking. at least make there death less painful!
