  • I'm sure it works great, but it looks dangerous with the charcoal being on the outside!

  • I cooked 6 hams last weekend with my units and I can tell you, well worth it!!!

  • this thing is better than my $700 Traeger smoker!! would reccomend to anybody

  • @beerbrewer737

The difference is worth it. I have had mine since last Fathers day. Don't think of this piece of equipment as a smoker. A smoker will pull moisture out of the meat, and the Orion cooker will keep the meat moist, even if you do smoke it with wood chips. Smoking is a completely different cooking method. They are similar but not the same. If you are interested in this cooker, don't try and compare it to your smoker. If you do, you will get rid of your smoker!

  • The only downfall is it takes a lot of fuel(charcoal) 15/18 lbs I think, so this is ideal for big meals, not small ones, if you have a small family its not the best choice for economy but for whole chickens/turkeys and ribs it is great, much cheaper than frying a turkey and tastes as good and not as bad for your heart I would imagine, I think this will work best with a dry rub on the meats too overall, great product, solid, stainless steel, no rusting, will last forever

  • these are very good and will produce a turkey that is very moist and never dried out....

It's fool proof.... 7 mins per pound and the turkey is perfect and the best part is you can use it as long as it isn't raining all year long because you don't have to stand and watch it or flip food, just put it in a safe place and come back and get it when the time is up.

    continued....

  • Around 150 bucks at Bass Pro and if you're lucky 130 at Home Depot. I just about forked over 300 bones for a Smokey mtn but I'm pretty much sold on this little dude. What I really like about it the short cooking time and the packability.

  • Looks good but how much does one cost? Granted my $79 smoker might not look as pretty but is the difference worth it?

  • I have had one of these for about a month. I also have a Weber Smokey Mountain. They both do an excellent job, but the Orion needs no adjusting and it cooks in a much shorter time. Pork butts that are overnight smokes in the Weber are around 4 hours in the Orion. I did my 21 pound Thanksgiving turkey in the Orion and a 14 pounder in the Weber. Both were fabulous, but the Orion did the heavier bird in an hour less than the Weber did the lighter one.

  • there is no substitute
