There isn't really any bulletproof glass that can handle round after round right in the same spot. I don't know how this one was able to handle it if it was. It looked like he was shooting at the window over and over at least. But they didn't really show that there was not penetration.

All the rounds that hit the the glass in the door were stopped. Some of the rounds that hit the small window on the right did penetrate.

It is true no armored glass can stop rounds over and over again (specially against armor piercing rifle rounds).

The glass we are installing is a minimum of 70mm thick. Our .50 caliber protected vehicles use 88mm glass (UL 752 level 10)

The problem with the V floor is that is makes the vehicle very high and they roll over. Being high also makes them easier targets to hit with RPGs.

V floor is good if the IED is beneath the vehicle but is bad if the ied is placed beside the vehicle.

they're moving towards the M-ATV as the replacement for the HMMVW, with 2000 being sent to afghanistan

yeah... the mrap is about 400 k more then a uparmored humvee.... i never sayd they abandoned the humvee... they simply try not to use it in ied prone areas.... and the m416 is a crisp weapon so there is no need to create a new one

The mrap is in service in LIMITED numbers under a short term replacement program enstated last year by the USMC. The Marines don't speak for the army. The United States army has yet to state if, ( at all ) it will be replacing the HMMVW anytime soon... Get your facts straight

@101andrewj do you realise the price difference between the mrap and an HMMVW The military certainly has not phased out the Humvee, as it's on scheduled duty well past 2015 with no discontinuation in foresight. Wherever you got your information I would advise them to stop lying. The military budget has been slashed repeatedly so heavily over the years that they opted out of the small arms update program instead choosing to buy hundreds of receiver kits for the M4-HK416 convert...

first, ieds are only effective on roads... and the usa has tryed to get rid off all m113 models because they suck at ied protection. as of 2009 the USA replaced all humvees in iraq with MRAPS.. they still use the humvees as transport vehicles in low risk areas, but there are none left going on combat patrolls, they use humvees in afghanistan war, but most wer sold to the ANA, 80% of usa deaths in those wars are IED related... so obviously they stopped using the death trap humvee

@101andrewj you must be kidding The HMMVW is pretty much the sole transportation for recon marines and army rangers not attached to an armored unit. The LAV's and Stryker's operate independantly you have no idea what you're talking about when you say they don't put HMMVW's on the line in iraq and afghanistan. The majority of vehicles destroyed by IED's are HMMVW's An IED can be placed anywhere... it's impossible to gauge where they are and aren't effectively.
