@ferrykalos You know, when you hear her live she is amazing. I saw her do this role and it remains one of the best things I have seen live and I have seen and heard manyl

agreed~. I like Anderson, but Gilda must trill, and the wider vibrato, is well wider. Shes does quite well in the Shadow Aria.

Good but not at her best. Her voice sounds too adult and heavy for this role.

CLASS, ELEGANCE, MUSICALITY, PATHOS AND BRAINS!

I agree, so so good technique, legato, beautiful and big projecting voice, she is way better live!

yes, sensational. a dramatic coloratura. some people obviously prefer a canary in this part!

Not quite. There are some great effects (her staccati for example), but otherwise she is not squarely in tune, her wide vibrato makes her sound too matronly for Gilda, and her phrasing feels more droopy than dreamy. Oh, and a sensational Gilda would surely have a more beautiful distinct trill. And more of a magical float to the tone in the high suspensions -- June sounds a bit squeezed. Obviously, my taste is for a sweeter more innocent sound in this aria.
Beautiful, as June always was ... her Gilda was one of my best nights at the Met. THANK YOU for this terrific video clip!~

Brilliant, clean, elegant. Her Gilda at the Met in 1990 was the first time I saw her live and I've been in love ever since!
