Chief Chad Smith Refuses To Admit Blacks To Cherokee Nation

This is a political video conceived and written by members of the Cherokee Nation that oppose racism within our ranks. The black Freedmen were once Cherokee and part of our Proud Nation. Some years ago they were tossed out for simply being black. A recent ruling by the the highest tribal court says they must once again admitted as full citizens. Chief Chad Smith has taken the position they should be kept out of the Nation, simply because they are black and because they would likely vote against him in the next election. His racist attitude is considered disgusting by most Cherokee citizens. This act, along with his failure to support his own people on key issues such as gaming and tobacco, will likely cause his defeat in the 2007 elections.

I think that yes if they have been members all along why cut them out now? If they are worried about people trying to get handouts then maybe just restrict membership to long term freedman members and cut it off but to totally kick them out I don't think is fair.
