Retro Active - Legend of the Mystical Ninja (part 1 of 3)

Holy crap I just heard it's on Virtual Console, too!

Legend of the Mystical Ninja is one of the CLASSICS. This seriously might be the best action platformer on the SNES, and that is saying a lot. In Japan, the series is called 「がんばれゴエモン」. It was developed and published by Konami and released in the US in 1992. The PAL release came in 1994.

This game hooked me immediately as a kid. With the bright colors, wacky characters, and AMAZING soundtrack... I rented it every weekend for about two months straight.

It was the fall of 1992. Every Saturday morning, I would play soccer, then my parents would let me rent a game. I sat in the car reading the instruction manual while waiting on a hamburger and a cherry slush at Sonic EVERY Saturday. Saturday afternoon and evening were devoted solely to this game, as was a lot of Sunday. Great memories.

Anyway, this play is a no damage run using savestates. Every pause is a save, although in the end I only loaded about 10 times... three on the white dragon (for god knows what reason) and FIVE on the final boss's 2nd phase. The other two were just generic slip-ups.

@MrJokerQ49 New game plus is when you clear the game, you restart with all of your gear and consumables. The enemies get harder, too. (talking about NG+ in Dark Souls)
