2126 is the number of cases registered in the Family Court for 2008-2009. There has been 11% increase compared to previous year. According to B. Ravindra, Advocate in Family Court said that the causes for the increase in divorce cases are due to cosmopolitan culture and there is more increase in love marriage and registered marriages, which stops a long-term relationship.
Siji Malayil, Advocate in High court said that the recession is one of the major causes for the rise in divorce cases. Even he added that the wives for their personal benifts are misusing the section498a. The wives demand car, apartments and other commodities from her husband or else the say that they would sue him under the charges of dowry and harassment cases.
The victims stuck under the section 498a; Satish and Narayan Kumar said that their wives have misused the section 498a and have made false charges that they have tortured their wives and have demanded for dowry. Due to this they have faced lot of problems by which their family landed in major problems and they were even in the situation where they would have lost their jobs. They have lost trust own marriage and opt not to marry in future.
The organization Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF) is an NGO, which helps the victims of divorce cases morally and mentally.
