@FeralPolly Doesn't matter. It was unsafe in principal to allow groups to join from that point. There was a process by which USI and the Gardai had organised the march, and the 40 of them were more than entitled to join the march from the rear. That stuff in the video about being barred from entering the protest was utter nonsense. We (yes, I am in the video) made it very clear that everyone could join on the approved route at the other side of Merrion Square.
The plan to close off those streets had been put in place weeks in advance. The reason we blocked access at that particular street was because that street would have led right to the middle of the population of students that were there for the rally. This could have potentially caused a press which could have endangered students. Any people who wished to join the protest were more than welcome to join the protest from the other side of the square, and they were made aware of this by stewards.
