@advisorC101 I'm not surprised to hear about the casting of pipes in sand to achieve a distinctive tone. The organ was the most complex piece of "machinery" built by man until the Industrial Revolution. Take a look at the workings of this Garrels instrument and the great organs of Haarlem and Weingarten in particular, and the sheer complexity of all the moving parts that needed to be brought together in a coherent whole, will greatly surprise you. Beautiful musicianship from Mr Koopman.

J'ai toujours aimé la mer et les bateux et étant moi-même musicienne, je n'ai jamais fait le lien. Un énorme merci pour voir ma nature et la science de la musique que j'essaie d'honorer du mieux de mes connaissances.

Mooi gespeeld door Ton Koopman, maar het beste wordt dit stuk toch vertolkt door Feike Asma op het orgel in de oude kerk te Amsterdam.
In de wel bekende film de Toccata speelt Feike werkelijk de sterren van de hemel.

Ah the magnificent Garrels! I've heard that when building his organs he cast the hot pipes in sand to achieve this wonderful sound we hear now. Alra1975 has posted quite a few videos of this organ.
It's amazing what they were able to accomplish in the Baroque era!
