Newark's strength as a center of industry made it prosperous - but also crowded, noisy and dirty. By the closing decades of the 1800s, residents yearned for a place to which they could escape. They found it on the city's northern end: Branch Brook Park, and the Forest Hill neighborhood. (Slideshow by Scott Lituchy)
