  • @jleoblues Hi. John Cephas was such a fine singer. (Phil is one of the greatest,on harp.) In this performance, the lyrics are mainly adapted from Memphis Minnie's song :

"Chauffeur's Blues',which used exactly the same tune. There are more verses taken from that ,than from Sonny's 'Schoolgirl'. All the best,Greg.

  • Rockin'!!

  • too blues legends this is fucking awesome and beautiful these old guys really make me cry there music touches and soothes my soul like know other sorry but blues is the best and original music you can argue classical was but there really wasn't any words this is the first music with solos singing phrasing symphony and rhythem just immaculate..

  • brilliant. rest in peace john cephas

  • WOW!!! BLOODY WOW!!! You can't often say a song is utterly irresistible but this one is!

  • @jleoblues I'm not sure about blues societies, but here locally(Jackson, Denmark Tn) they do a blues show here and there that they name after him

  • it dont get no betta

  • @WINDELLK I did not know that. I wonder if any of the Blues societies are aware of that. He died in Chicago from an ice pick stabbing (or so the story goes) We need to find a way to raise awareness and raise some money. You know Robert Johnson has three grave marking based upon rumor

  • @jleoblues Thanks for recognizing the original sonny boy williamson, I am from his hometown, and he has just one little marker on the side of the road. it is sad really

  • R.I.P Bowling Green John Cephas. You are missed. I am not sure how many "Piedmont" players are let. This song, if you don't know, was written and performed by John Lee "Sonny Boy"

Williamson I. He was the original Sonny Boy as opposed to Rice Miller (Sonny Boy II)
