The title track of the debut album from what is probably the most influential yet unappreciated and unknown band: Diamond Head. Released in 1980 Lightning to the Nations was a favorite of Metallica and they covered 4 songs from this album alone. Diamond Head's influence can easily be heard in Metallica as well as Testament and Megadeth's music.

theres a BIG reason why bands like diamond head, saxon, and bands like them are called the heavy metal greats.. influencing metallica was just one of the things that they did, people say that they carried the torch of metal... MAN THE FUCKING LIT THE TORCH!

I fucking hate reading comments on Diamond Head videos. Influencing Metallica is not their biggest achievement. Bands like Diamond Head did much more than that. They, along with Iron Maiden, Venom, Saxon etc., revived heavy metal, after the punk movement had killed it.
