Earlier this month I had journeyed to Long Island City, located in Queens to see the mecca of graffiti, 5 Pointz. Did a bit of research beforehand, yet nothing can really prepare you until seeing the facility in person. Gorgeous, simply amazing - talented people have created mesmerizing works of art. "Graffiti mecca" it truly is. Met the caretaker, Meres - interesting and generous with his time and obvious passion for everything on display. There are rumblings that the owner would like to tear everything down and replace with office/residential towers. For a city with lots of character, why give up one of it's man made gritty treasures.
