What if there was an Animatrix for American McGee's Alice?
The idea here is what it might look like if a selection of eight animated shorts were created to explore the back story of a soon to be released American McGee's Alice film, serving also as a promotional tool for the movie.
I thought the following would be interesting stories to explore...
-
Last Night at Rutledge: A wordless short about Alice's routine in the asylum, and the encroaching madness of her isolation.
-
Clocktower: A short narrated by the Mad Hatter detailing his decent into insanity through his soulless experiments to understand and eventually control the passage of time.
-
Vorpal Blade: A mythical tale about the creation and first use of the legendary blade, culminating in the battle with the Jabberwocky.
-
The Rage: A surreal short which represents the wild emotions and memories Alice experiences under the influence of her rage.
-
Alice vs Red: Alice encounters another 'fairy-tale' warrior who is not the red-hooded victim from stories. The two engage in a duel which heats up quickly, but they cast aside their differences to deal with a greater threat.
-
Cheshire Kit: Before the Queen of Hearts, all was peace and whimsy in Wonderland. Growing up as an outcast and not knowing his true family, the Cheshire Cat meets some familiar friends on his journeys, including one in particular who will become his closest companion.
-
The First Alice: Alice's plight is mirrored by an earlier heroine who rose from obscurity to fight off a threat to Wonderland. This is her heroic and tragic tale, ending with the prophesy forecasting her return.
-
The Rabbit's Tale: Set after the events of the film, this short is told from the perspective of The White Rabbit as he describes (and elaborates) on Alice's battle with the Red Queen and her quest to save the world from destruction.
-
I'd love to see this not only done by Japanese artists, but by artists all over the world! Imagine French Alice, Belgian Alice, Korean Alice...American Alice.

  • I used clips from

Movies: Fears of the Dark, Siegfried (unreleased animated movie), Dead Space: Downfall.

Games: Street Fighter Four, The Persona Series, Castlevania Series, Heavenly Sword, Baroque.

I also used several music videos.

The song is called Schwarze Sonne (or Black Sun) by the band E Nomine.

  • i LOVE TO SEE Clocktower ONE IF IT WAS REAL!

  • that was epic awasome work :)

  • @dawg4him

I'm somewhat of an expert on that actually! XD

Lewis Carroll (William Dodgeson) said pretty clearly the riddle was supposed to be nonsense, although he did provide his own answer eventually: 'They're nevar back to front'

Other answers include 'Poe wrote on both' and 'They both have inky quills' and 'They both make flat notes'

  • I saw Charlotte from Castlevania Portrait of Ruin there!

  • @bloodrunsclear Thanks for letting me know! =D
