  • Absolutely great natural footage. Good job, thank you for sharing.

  • @blsmith4740 Thanks, this is why I used music instead of fake railroad sounds that many people add to old silent films. This way if you want to, you can just turn off the music and see the films in their original form, silent. Added fake railroad sounds are usually not even close in years or from the same railroad no matter how syncronised they try to be. This is the real thing, direct from the 8 mm film to You tube.

  • GREAT collection of footage.

  • Brings back lots of memories from my childhood. Thanks for posting!

  • I remember steam from the early fifties, when I was in grammar school. There were still some steam engines in use after the Korean war, mostly pulling freight. They are exiting to watch, but if you had to live near a railroad yard with two or three dozen steam engines, it might not be so exiting! But it was a different time. In the fifties, people did not complain about smoke from the railroads or the mills or factories because the smoke meant good jobs for a lot of people!

  • Thank you so much for posting this - I still enjoy steam engines/locomotives and the music you've set this video to is a perfect match - made my day (or, in this case, my 'early morning' - lol!).

  • From 3:37 to the end of this video is obviously Wellington, KS. The black and white footage from 0:38 to 1:13 looks like it's taken near Barton Salt, at Hutchinson, Kansas. Can anyone identify the remaining?

  • Good stuff! Who filmed this? Please tell me you have more. Thanks
