How do you plan to power your electric weenie mobile? No disgusting gasoline! How about disgusting coal? Disgusting nuclear power? What will you do, buy a stationary bike and a generator to charge up? You are a fool.

The Arabs aren't worried about an electric car that costs as much as BMW 3 Series plus enough fuel to travel 250,000 miles. They might be scared of the latest US oil reserve reports - look like we have more than Saudi.

What about the size of the wires? To deliever that much charge, it would take enormous amout of current requiring VERY large wires. There's no getting around the physics.

Yes, it would be very dangerous for a Model S to go off the beaten path, particularly in very cold environment. You have to make extensive plans if you are taking any type of trip. You must be careful to always have charging stations if you are using Model S for anything other than commuter car. And what happens if there's a line at a charging station. It could take an hour or more for a charge. People aren't gonna like that.

I can't disagree. I'm tired of hearing all this nonsense about Tesla Model S. The damn thing is a very expensive commuter car. There is nothing special about this technology. Just wait until one of these fools who live in SF Bay area takes their Model S to Lake Tahoe for a ski trip and gets themselves into serious trouble.

We have always known that electric motors have a lot of low end torque. I've seen videos for years of electric cars smoking the fastest ICE cars in 1/4 mile. Nothing new.

I don't plan on going to Houston. Don't want to go to Houston. I actually tried this out on Orbitz for my area (San Jose,CA) and Washington D.C. and Norfolk/Virgina Beach. None of those places have rentals on weekends for $50. The cheapest was nearly double that.

The charger in Morrow Bay had a "3 hour maximum" sign. That would have only put 3 X18 miles = 54 miles range into the battery. The trip was impossible without being a douche bag and depriving other EVs from sharing the public charger. But then again, the car is designed for douche bags who have too much money to waste on pretending care about the environment.
