Because people would use it to confuse the other team.

Even though it was a high school playoff game, him scoring on his own same basket with 2.9 seconds left was more embarrassing and sad than this.

It shouldn't have gone down to that anyways. He traveld and UNC deserved the ball back.

I think it's blasphemous that the rule is two free throws AND ball. It should just be a let them play situation

it wasnt chris webbers fault. After webber grabs the rebound, #14 from michigan has the hand signal to call timeout. Also when webber brought it up the court, #14 was yelling timeout also. its not shown in this video but it is shown in the documentary. Webber shouldnt have called the timeout but it was in the heat of the moment.

It's not the ref's job to keep track of timeouts, that's why. The scorer's table keeps track of how many timeouts each team has, so since the ref doesn't know that they're out of timeouts are left, he stops the play for the timeout. Then the scorers table tells the ref about it, then he gets the tech.

Imo There is a larger story behind the final play,,,

This one always bothered me, it made zero sense.

Weber was NOT that stupid of a player, to be making such moves

as he did in the end. imo.

Go ahead, call me a 'conspiracy theorist,' if you like but Im just an old

    basket-baller and I knew then,,,That what I was seeing,,,

then and now on replay,,,made NO sense whatsoever !

I'm not disputing that, he was told a few times, the guy was just asking why the rule is you get a technical rather than just not getting the time out.
