Just a quick video I did after getting one of these babies :) I don't know if the riff is from some band (maybe early Bloodbath), I just did something in the spirit of early 90's Swedish Death Metal :P

All settings at 10 on the HM-2, of course. On the Powerball, I had gain at 2, bass at 4, mid-open at 10, treble at 8, presence at 5 and depth punch at 7. The guitar is Schecter 007 Blackjack with SD JB pickup (passive).

The mic is Shure SM7b, cab is Mesa 4x12" Recto STD.

Double tracked, 100% L/R.

Ey there again. I talked to Fredrik Nordstrom via e-mail, asked him if the rumours about VS8100 + the HM-2 in clean channel was true, and he confirmed it. It was with the contour knob either full left or full right, I say that you should definitely try it out.

Unfortunately I haven't even come across a 8100 model over here in Turkey, but I listened to a lot of samples and watched a lot of clips. The overdrive of the amp on its own is definitely Symbolic/SOP era Death guitar tone.

  • @RedNBlacK951 sorry is meant dist* in the previous post have you ever used the 8100 model? or did frederik tell you that? haha anyway good stuff!

  • @annostriker thats great info man thank you so much i will def try doing that i have been playing for years and have gotten good at tone settings but i just bought this pedal and my fender frontman is complete garbage i have some different version than the original FM and the diet. is also complete garbage so i know for sure thats why I'm not getting any desired tones but i will be getting a cab soon for the head and will try doing that i know ill be pleased haha thanks brotha!

Hey, you should try the VS8100 with a less cranked up boss hm-2 setting, and the contour knob either full to the left or right, I can assure you that this will help you nail the In Flames - Jester Race and Whoracle guitar tone, I got this info by mailing Fredrik Nordstrom, the producer of the albums from the beginning to Clayman.

  • dude how do u get that brutal tone? i have the pedal but when i try to use it with my amps distortion to make overdrive i just get a bunch of shitty sounding feedback and the actual tone is terrible! but the pedal itself opereates at 100% and i can hear the potential but just not with my amp i should be receiving a marshal vs8100 head tonmorrow i hope it helps! haha anyway sick tone and that was def a bastardized version of drowned by entombed ;) left hand path!

  • Heh.. I am SO GLAD I just got one of these sick bastards.. This video really shows off how it can beef up your distortion, rather than just playing it through a clean setting.. And I'm a real gain-head.

  • The only time a Powerball has sounded good.

  • oh my.

  • GNAARRRLLYYYY DUUUUUUUUUUUDDE!!!
