Its encouraging to hear American voices raised against genital cutting/mutilation of female children. By looking at American culture, and how we have until now generally accepted the genital cutting of infant boys we can understand how circumcision of girls continues. People enmeshed in a culture and it's practices are usually brought up not to question the most blatant abuses of children. It's time to speak out for the human rights and protection of all children, male female and intersexed.

If 200+ boys die every year and 900+ girls die every year does that make it OK to mutilate one sex? NO. Give your head a fucking shake! All children need to be protected from this sexual abuse.

@uihdskjdns The same "excuses" given for mutilating the genitals of both boys and girls are "cleanliness" and "its healthier." These are not "reasons" they are pathetic excuses.

It sound like you know very little about FGM. Read the work of Hanny Lightfoot-Klein, Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Nawal El Saadawi if you want to be better informed.

@uihdskjdns Far too many boys die or must live with the consequences of botched circumcision. There is no justification for cutting off part of someone's else's genitals without consent. None at all.

Cutting a child's genitals is sexually sick.

@uihdskjdns Your blanket assumption about FGM is wrong. There are varying degrees of severity of both MGM and FGM. The point of forced or coerced genital cutting of either sex is to exert sexual power and dominance over another person's genitals. Its a sexually sick thing to do to any child of any sex. Girls and boys die from this ignorance forced upon them. There is no justification for mutilating children of either sex.

There are varying degrees of severity of FGM. The mildest forms are equivalent to or less than what is commonly done to boys. ALL genital mutilation of children is supported by myths and misconceptions. ALL genital mutilation of children is an abuse of power over a child. Good to know you would protect all your children from this madness.

Would you consider expressing that view in a video? I think the youtube community would really benefit from hearing your views on male circumcision too.

The American public already largely agrees about female genital cutting, but hasn't made that important realization you have regarding male circumcision...

I truly believe that even if you were to just make a short video about it, many people would begin to critically question why they support unnecessary genital cutting of healthy infants.

I agree with you, some forms of female genital cutting are extremely damaging, akin to much more severe, debilitating forms of male genital cutting that occur in parts of the world - or have at one time or another, such as castration.

Nevertheless, I fear that if we only focus on the most extreme forms of FGC, we'll not help the victims of less severe forms.

Male circumcision in America is about identical to having the clitoral hood and labia minora amputated. That's bad, regardless of gender.
