@sustainableheart I love Torcello, too. I know a woman who owns one of the great palaces on the Grand Canal. She runs a modest estate in Tuscany and you'd have no idea she is so rich. I love my Italian friends. Greetings, from Paris, France, via the USA.

@Antralian= I never played Assasin's Creed. I'm here because my grandfather went there during the Second World War. He told me of the wonders and beauty he saw there. And I see he wasn't lying.

Is very sad see americans writing only "assassin creed" and forgetting the millenarian sea republic, the contribution to the West, the battles against turks and the Renaissance...*sigh*

I went to Venice last year, and I have got to tell you that this is the most amazing, most exotic, interesting and unusual city I have visited anywhere in the world. I can see why it's so famous.

I think you appreciate Venice even more, when you start to discover its secret and mysterious places, islands, squares and palaces. I like Torcello island too, far from the typical tourist routes. One day I do want to join a party in a beautiful Venetian building during Carnival time. They say it's great.
