Except most of the famous philosophers throughout history who have made a huge impact did study philosophy... it's not really like English at all....

I had this problem too, but luckily I live in Canada where there is still continental philosophy. To those that say analytic philosophy is "the real deal" .... sure... if you want to be able to prove trivial nonsense. Continental philosophy is the real deal.

Mhm, as much as I enjoy george Carlin and have respect for the other you mentionned, this has nothing to do with the likes of Plato, Descartes, Spinoza, Kant or with "Foucault, Deleuze and Nietzsche". "Jesus and John Lennon" are to philosophy what "changing your car's motor oil" is to organic chemistry.
