On Sat. June 4, volunteers from the Holliday Nature Preserve Association (HNPA) and along with the city of Westland gathered for Rouge Rescue, an annual event sponsored by Friends of the Rouge to clean up that river and its adjoining properties. Once again, HNPA and Westland partnered for this event in the Holliday Nature Preserve, a passive recreation area (part of the Wayne County park system) that runs through the city of Westland. Volunteers cut and removed honeysuckle, an invasive plant, worked on trails and pulled garbage out of the river. Here is a look at the work they did.
