Covering heads of nuns is based on apostol Paul words :"But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head:" and finally "that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God." For that reason man in church is not covering his head,and woman does.

@mirasprofile Christians don't feel safe among Muslims, especially western Christians, so when they see Muslim women dressed with hijab and that stuff, they feel as attacked, as an attack on their culture and way of life. I personally have nothing against Muslim way of clothing, by the way, Christian women should also cower their head, but modern way of American life influinced them.

Angelic sounds,amazing! Why is it that when orthodox nuns wear a habit we call them pious ,holy, religious etc. Jet when Muslim women wear hijab they are backward, fanatical,etc. Why the double standard???

@greekorthodoxmacedon This monastery isn't related to Geronta Ephraim. It is under the Serbian jurisdiction. I believe these sisters used to be in California, connected to St Herman's, but within the last 10 years moved to AZ. Also, I believe you meant 20 monasteries in the US, not Arizona.
