  • Instead of using the RTV sillicone for the Transmission Oil pan... could it be better to use the OEM gasket?

  • @predilecto1000 The OEM gasket is good, but with super clean surfaces the RTV silicone has never failed on us. It's just a little more work to clean if needed.

  • need help!!! are you still out there?!! jim leale?

  • @defeyterjr Hello, Yes, What is your question? Please give me a call 408.286.5350 for a quick answer.

  • You never ever should put silicone in the oil pan in the transmission . if you do that you should put just a little bit ,but no the way how you doing NOT GOOD

  • Hello, Thanks for the comment. I will pass that on to my builder! Perhaps it looks to be much more than it actually is, because this guy builds about 3 trannys a day with rarely a come-back.

  • @predilecto1000 Last year I just had a replacement of a used transmission on the Grand caravan which has the A604/41TE, It was a bit of labor swaping so I got the help of a Mecanic. The used transmission I bought, according to the people who sold it to me from an autoparts store, had only 60,000 miles in it. Since the replacement the van has ran o.k. but if in the futre it dies, I want to know if shipping it to you all to get it fixed could be a possibility.

Jim... have you all dealt with receiving and shipping transmissions? The reason for this question is that in the area where I live(in Los Fresons, Texas), there are no transmission repair shops and most people have told me to buy one remanufactured from dealer-ship or a used-one. People in this area have also told me that it is better to take the transmissions to a trustworthy place and that there are none in this area. Please e-mail me to rodo01@hotmail.com.

  • @impala1981 A604 weighs 191pounds :)

  • How much did this A604-Rebuilt Cost? I bought one used-semi-new (or 60k miles-dyno tested) from a wrecked van for $1000.USD in Jan. 2011

  • Awesome videos... Transmission rebuilding... to me...is a topnotch challenge!!!!
