Sihanouk had no other choices but to join with Vietcong in comrade-at-arm again. As a Chinese proverb goes: If [you] don't go into cavity of the tiger, how can [you] capture its cub? He really wanted all Vietcong/Yuon leaders to show up all their dirty demonic tricky aims/plans whatever they secretly had hidden in their heads. But he's got "Good Blessing" from his best friends "Chinese" and North Korean as his guarantors and protectors. Without these protectors and guarantors, his fate would have been like Laotian royal families who were disappeared forever under Hanoi domination and colonialists since 1975. Look at Laos, which has only name of Laos in appearance on the international level, but in reality, inside of it has been completely the slave and secret-brutal rule of Yuon Vietcong oppressors.

Saloth Sar knew that the army of Lon Nol could not hold head with the Vietnamese. The FUNK joined Vietnamese and Laotian communists on the "single battlefield" to struggle against "U.S. imperialism" under the banner of the United Front of the Three Indochinese People (UFTIP). Militarily, this entailed combined military operations—that is, guerrilla, conventional or proxy military action as was expedient and/or possible conducted from "liberated" areas of the country.

These "liberated" areas grew as it became clear that America would pursue a "retreat with honour" policy with respect to South Vietnam.

Sihanouk is the hardcore communist and socialist in S.E Asia , he ruined the beautiful country brought Cambodia into killing fields, he stood side by side with comrade in arms kim jung il of n. korea.

- b4 1970 sihanouk killed all the cambodians especially the professors whom he suspected of bein' communists; in the 2nd half of the 60s several teachers in my lycee indra devi, later on in 1970 re-named lycee tuol kauk, where i was a student, disappeared w/o a trace

Sihanuk is not a King.He has been a criminal.He has not allowed freedom of speak,life and wills to the khmer.He has jointed all the communist party,china etc..I have wondered why he has not come out to see the world instead hiding in Hun sen's shed,bathroom and minipulating the new khmer generation to warship a handfull of those criminal included himself.khmer should kick all sdechs out of their country or put him in prison 4 life,make him clean public the toilet pick up trash.Thanks 4sharing

when i was a kid in Cambodia , i always heard old people said and told young people about how a great king we had who always fought vietname and protected our khmer people. but after i left Cambodia to the 2nd country , i have learned that our king , Sihanuk is not a great king but a bad king who made our country become a bad country since soon :((to all khmer, why is our country always facing bad leaders? first was sihanuk and now is Hun Sen . when can khmer has a good lender who loves khmer?
