Yup, that's George Rock on trumpet. Hired away by Spike Jones to become the back bone of the City Slickers. George was regarded by other trumpet players as one of the best ever.

I know, that's classic.

The local Ice Cream truck plays this tune, and to prove it to my husband that is what is was I just googled it. This is the first thing that came up, and now he views it at least once a day. He even got a traditional Irish band to pay it at a gig this past Saturday night, and they dedicated it to him!

This was produced as a "Soundie" [originally shown in coin-operated 16mm projection "juke boxes"] in 1942.

It's best to view this as the Punk Rock of it's time. Or Zappa-like.

Jug band with an attitude...hehe. Turkey in the straw, turkey in the grass...then bends over & says "I get a kick outta this" and the guy kicks him in the butt. Kills me :)

LOL..I recall reading a book about Fisher called "Freddie the Fixer"- based mainly upon his later life in Aspen CO where he ran a fix-it shop, played jazz @ the Red Onion, and wrote memorable letters to the editor of the Aspen Times. He once wrote of Aspen, "A whore couldn't make a living here: too many enthusiastic amateurs." He was a character, all right, even in old Aspen. He died in 1967, right around the time Aspen really became "in" and the corporate types took over.
