  • how come they dont do busy on Sunday?

  • You mean business? Well they don't believe in taking money or working on Sundays, so all Amish businesses are closed on Sundays, this is from an old rule that a lot of people followed, there is still a law on the books in one state that says you can't mow the lawn on Sundays... I was just told this recntly.

  • I live in Indiana next to the second largest Amish community, and it look like a such a peaceful life.

  • Yes that is what everyone thinks, but it is not all what it looks like... yes the anumals are nice etc, bt they are better then humans sometimes.

  • No Business on Sunday ... this is out of respect for God. Sunday is set aside for worshipping God and Rest.

  • @helema23

    shrim; is forbidden...

Of the things that are in the waters, you may eat anything that has fins and scales. Lev. 11:9; Deut. 14:9. Thus, shellfish such as lobsters, oysters, shrimp, clams and crabs are all forbidden. Fish like tuna, carp, salmon and herring are all permitted, and is not becaouse health, it is because, G-d comanded.

    shalom.

  • @Kaasko

And yet people overlook these things and say "that was beck before refrideration and the ability to test the meats for deseases..." umm thats not why God gave those rules.....by the way someone needs to get them a bible in english or pensilvania dutch that is an exact translation of the one they have in german....

    Elechum Shalom

  • @Kaasko

We are not allowed to eat animals that prey upon other animals (with the exception of certain snakes but thats usually only if ite the only thing to eat) we can eat of the fish of the sea that is scaled and swims and none of the others includeing the shellfish (except shrimp) and they must be alive when taken from the water. all o four animals must be humainly dispatched and properly drained then cooked where no blood is present.

  • @Kaasko yes it is very clear that the animals we eat must split the hoof and chew the cud, there is a wide veriety of animals that do this and its not just cows, you have camels, goats, sheep, alpaccas (sp) llamas, and a huge number of deer species and othe ranimals that can be eaten.

  • @helema23 ppl who says, the torah was for the israelites, don't consider themsefs THE PPL OF G-D, thats crazy.

Mstew 5-19 Jesus is very clear about to keep the comandments.

    shalom javerin.

  • @Kaasko yes and they say the new testiment abrogated those verses or that they were fo rthe isrealites only.... the cows look rathe rtastey though an dbeing grass fed.......:D

    elechum shalom :)

  • @helema23

Yes, those comandments are very clear in the bible, there is no any evidence to the contrary.

    shalom
