I recorded this last night on my TV tuner because I thought it was going to be a bit more interesting than just going to snow. I at least expected it to have a station ID and an announcement beforehand... Then again, I guess the WTOL logo and ticker count.

  • Keep in mind that on NTSC, luminance, chroma, and audio are all on different carriers - some channels used to cut off chroma when they were broadcasting a black and white movie.

So, more than likely, whoever was doing this switch-off turned off luminance first - that also does sync for chroma (or he cut video all at once), then did audio later.

WCBS (our local CBS) seems to be running a zombie channel on analog - basically telling you how to get dtv.

What an exciting day in television history

  • thanks much

  • Because the video and audio carriers are technically separate signals.

  • I learned something from DTV! THE WORD "AND" IN SPANISH IS JUST THE LETTER "Y!"

  • I can't get anying now on my Tv, just a video info

  • I would think they would drag out the old sign off.
