"The work that Christ started but could not finish, I — Adolf Hitler — will conclude." — Adolf Hitler, December 1926. Note that Adolf Hitler was never excommunicated or in any other way officially censured by the Catholic Church. The only high-ranking Catholic Nazi to be excommunicated was Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels — because he married a divorced Protestant woman!
@gb696 OK most of your quotes are from 1933 or before when Hitler was trying to come into power and hence try to get the religious people on his side, so those quotes I do not take seriously. Maybe he was never excommunicated, but how many religous leaders did he arrest and kill. That number would pretty high. Hitler started his won religion called "Postive Christianity" which was his own warped version mixed with anti-Semitism so calling Hitler as devoutly relgious is ludicrous.
Can you honestly say that you have to be devoutly religious to have the ideology affect you? You and I, sorry I looked at your page and it says America, have been affected by this Ideology simply because we were brought up in it, the American culture as a whole is christian. Just like Germany was and still is today. The catholic church started long before Hitler in attacking the Jews. This has a affect on him thinking along the same lines as it is his ideology the culture he was brought up in.
@gb696 Yes, I forgot just because you come from a certain coun try automatically makes you a member of the majority. Yeah your genralization about me was insulting and quite useless so thank you for proving your ignorance. Also, even if the Catholic church were as you say, that does not constitute the entirety of Christianity.
"but how many religious leaders did he arrest and kill." I just looked on Google but I can't seem to find any can you name one christian leader he killed. Preferably a Protestant or Catholic one. "That number would pretty high" I think I would have found it then, and Please also list the source so I can check it out for myself, thanks.
@gb696 Wow, not one, wow then you clearly did not look hard enough idiot! Please use something other than"google" to find out your information (aka. do REAL research!) How about these names for: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Confessing church for starters. Then look at how the Nazi regime persecuted and killed Christians in other countries such as Poland, etc.
"As for the Jews, I am just carrying on with the same policy which the Catholic Church has adopted for fifteen hundred years, when it has regarded the Jews as dangerous and pushed them into ghettos etc., because it knew what the Jews were like. I don't put race above religion, but I do see the danger in the representatives of this race for Church and State, and perhaps I am doing Christianity a great service." — Adolf Hitler
"We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations; we have stamped it out." — Adolf Hitler
"The fact that the Catholic Church has come to an agreement with Fascist Italy ... proves beyond doubt that the Fascist world of ideas is closer to Christianity than those of Jewish liberalism or even atheistic Marxism..."— Adolf Hitler in an article in the Völkischer Beobachter, 1929
