actually upthedub is 100 per cent there, Jimmy mac Carthy is a genius, hate to see it taken away from him...

I've heard Christy singing this umpteen times live and I think it's a great tribute to him that Paolo covers it. He's connecting with the Irish side of Glasgow, just like the Irish side Celts to the core good for him!

hahaha, head on this gobshite tryin to follow christy, he isnt fit to bring the man a glass of water.
-
this song was originally writing by an Irish traveller. Cristy paid the traveller £40 for the song. if you didn't no that, well then you don't no shit about Irish music.

Why does this guy sound like he's 70?
-
sorry but i just dont get what the fuss is about with this guy, heard him covering Caledonia as well and it was not great, he couldn't hold a candle to Christy or Dougie.

The song was written by Jimmy MacCarthy, who also wrote Missing You and Bright Blue Rose which Christy Moore also covered.

@upthedub1 Wrong. It was penned by James "Jimmy" MacCarthy a singer/songwriter from Macroom, County Cork.. he also wrote "Missing You", "Bright Blue Rose" and "Mystic Lipstick" all covered by Christy...just saying!!!
