Illinois Central Railroad Intermodal Train I04

Illinois Central Intermodal train I04 on the riverfront in downtown Memphis, TN. This was recorded in the spring of 2001 on a VHS camera, hence the low quality. This is rare footage as Illinois Central trains did not use the track through town unless congestion, derailment or track work on the LA Belt.

Looks like Illinois Central was desperate if they had to resort to using (2) 6000 seires & a 1000 series locomotives instead of (3) 3100 series locomotives.

@HisNameWasMurr In speaking about Illinois Central and Amtrak I have a photo of a Illinois Central loaded grain train near Curve in Lauderdale County I was at the riverfront in downtown Memphis I saw Amtrak City of New Orleans heading to and heading out from Amtrak Central Station in 1997.

I used to watch trains on this same line about 30 mins north in Atoka, when I was a kid. The only reason I know the two connect is because on occasion I'd see the Amtrak pass through our sleepy little town.
