Only in Hawaii does one need to do an environmental study to not dig up the ground. A barge with a ramp has to have a EIS. Golly, most of us consider progress and signs of economic development when we do see dirt fly.

Unfortunately the ferry is gone, not enough business. Why the fuss? During one year of operations the ferry never struck a whale, averaged less than 400 passengers, and ferried less than a 100 vehicles every day. Some threat!

And there weren't any environmental disasters. One ferry isn't going to affect the environment more than thousands of private yatchs, commerical shipping, or airline flights. Who actually cared who owned the ferry? What a sham! Blinded by environmentalists Hawaii loses.
