Basically, toss the plant in the dirt, cover it and the plant will literally take over your entire yard. Then it will knock on your front door. Do NOT open the door, because if you do, it will push you aside and take over your living room and you will regret it. Strawberry plants hog the tv remote.
But seriously, I planted 5 plants in the spring in a 3x3 area and ended up with about 36 plants crammed in the same area. They reproduce like bunnies on crack.

@junemo1 yes you can grow from seed. I am growing alpine straw berries from seed this year.
